Selection of Open-Pit Mining and Technical System’s Sustainable Development Strategies Based on MCDM

Mining of the extensive, steeply dipping ore deposit takes several decades. An open-pit mining method is more often used in early years such a enterprise (ME). The management faced with problem changing as depth quarry increases. Untimely solution this issue or choice wrong strategy for development ME leads to decrease profitability, and emergence environmental social difficulties. We studied functioning one hundred seven MEs from different countries substantiated four main sustainable strategies its system—the technical system (MTS): adjustment current stage indicators, transition new mining, combined open–underground mine closure. result our research an original methodology selecting MTS development. Our based on parameters indicators evaluating sustainability opening-up opencast (OOS). This assessment includes twenty-three that characterize technical, technological, economic, social, factors propose select using fuzzy AHP-MARCOS multicriteria decision (MCDM). case study Malyi Kuibas was closure strategy. reliability obtained confirmed by multilateral sensitivity nine other known MCDMs, while criteria weights composition strategies. results prove need timely change production In addition, we have shown effectiveness selection OOS sustainability.
